As President and CEO at BMO Harris Investment Management Inc. Ian drove the organization’s market and financial strategies and was the primary architect of the business model that grew assets under management from $1 billion in 1997 to $12.6 billion at June 30th 2008. Annualized revenue increased from $7 million to $130 million during that period with a corresponding increase in profitability.
Ian’s broad and diverse range of capabilities and experience include:
- Launching, managing and growing an unique tax driven financial planning offering at Clarkson Gordon (Ernst & Young);
- Building an Audit and M & A practice in Milan, Italy for Arthur Young;
- A strong personal involvement and commitment to client business development and relationship management;
- Ian has been a frequent lecturer on personal taxation, estate planning and family law and was a commentator in the financial press and on television
- Introducing sound financial management as a volunteer Executive Committee Member and Treasurer at the Writers Trust of Canada.
Ian is very entrepreneurial and innovative – he negotiated and launched a unique alliance with BMO and Community Foundations of Canada to create more philanthropic options for clients. Ian has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an infectious enthusiasm for brand leadership. Ian is adept at identifying stakeholders' needs, managing their priorities and aligning teams to generate desired outcomes.
